America’s Got Talent Semi-Finalist Performing in Oskaloosa

OSKALOOSA, IA — The magic of theatre is alive and well with the Lightwire Theater and their spectacular light creations – and it’s coming to the George Daily Auditorium! This two-for-one show includes both the Ugly Duckling and the Tortoise and the Hare on Wednesday, March 26 at 7 p.m.
On the heels of their success on America’s Got Talent, the folks at Lightwire Theater bring their use of cutting edge technology to an unforgettable theatrical experience. The performers will be almost invisible in the dark theatre, except for the glowing creatures sculpted out of electroluminescent tubes they wear as costumes.
“This is a very unique show,” said Randall Wright, Executive Director of the George Daily Auditorium. “When we saw them in a showcase at the Arts Midwest conference, I knew they would be a good fit for our season.”
These familiar tales with a modern twist will delight the whole family. In the Ugly Duckling, the biggest hatchling is an outcast and goes out into the wild alone where he sees a wily cat sneaking into the nest. In true heroic fashion, the ugly duckling defeats the cat and saves his kidnapped sibling. In the Tortoise and the Hare, the confident Hare thinks he can win the race and allows himself to be distracted with texting, video games, and the paparazzi, while the Tortoise trudges along with discipline and fortitude.
Lightwire Theater, with its dazzling visuals, poignant choreography, and creative use of music ranging from pop to jazz to classical, literally brings these classic tales into a new and brilliant light. This performance is recommended for ages 4 and up.
