Daryl D. Six, Jr., 57, of Oskaloosa and formerly of Tracy and Des Moines passed away Tuesday afternoon, February 25, 2014 at the MHP Hospice Services Serenity House in Oskaloosa.

Daryl “Skip” D. Six, Jr., son of Daryl Duane and Barbara Jean (Pratt) Six, Sr., was born January 17, 1957, in Des Moines, Iowa.

Daryl was a 1975 graduate of East High School in Des Moines. His first employment was as a night cashier at Super Value in Des Moines, he later worked as a meter reader for the Des Moines Water Works. In 1993 he moved to Tracy and was employed by Terlouw Plumbing and Heating in Pella. Ill health forced him to take an early retirement in 2005.

Daryl married Debra Lynn Veldhuizen, July 22, 2000. They made their home in Oskaloosa. Daryl enjoyed all sports, but especially enjoyed bowling, golf, and fishing and he was an avid Green Bay Packers fan.

Daryl is survived by his best friend and wife of 13 years, Debra Six; two step-sons: Derek (& Sarah) McClure of Baltimore, MD and Taner McClure of Cedar Falls, IA; a step-daughter, Afton McClure (& fiancée, Kerry Keovongsack) of Ottumwa, IA; two step-grandchildren: Kolyn Keovongsack and Kylie McClure; his father, Daryl Six, Sr. of Tracy and a sister, Ronda (& Doug) Garnett of West Des Moines and a nephew, Vaughn (& Christy) Lewis of West Des Moines.

In addition to his mother, Daryl was preceded in death by his brother, Scott Six.

As was his wish, Daryl’s body has been cremated and no services are planned.
Memorial contributions may be made in his name and will be designated at a later date.
