The Osky girl’s basketball team knew they were going to have their hands full Friday night playing one of the state’s best teams, in Dallas Center Grimes, and what they ran into was a buzz saw.

Freshman Alexis Westercamp and Senior Chace Moyer were looking to make impact inside right away for the Indians, and had the score at a respectable 7-4 DCG. What ensued was pressure trapping defense compounded with cold Osky Shooting and turnovers, and Osky found the DCG quickly leading by 10, halfway through the first quarter. Asia Laudermilch found the bottom of the basket to break the DCG run 18-8 DCG. Osky was having a tough time keeping the Fillies off of the boards and too many second chance points, coupled with good ball movement of working inside out, caused the Indians problems, closing the first quarter down 24-12.

DCG started the second quarter the same as they left off the first. They had great passing, which lead to a long 3 pointer, to keep the train moving. Taylor Richardson drove hard to the hoop and hit one of two free throws and Paige Howard hit a 3 to bring it to 33-18. Osky just couldn’t do anything to contain DCG and their dribble drive penetration as it lead to a 14-2 run to close the second quarter, with numerous layups and a commanding 47-20 lead.

DCG came out in the third quarter and flexed their muscle, as everything they wanted to do they did by going inside and hitting from the outside, to go up 64-26 after the third quarter.

Osky found a little success in the fourth quarter, but, it was for not, as the DCG Fillies showed why they deserve their ranking and their 17-2 record, they finished the Indians 79-36.

Osky was led by Westercamp, Richardson, Moyer and Laudermilch. The lady Indians will be in action again Saturday as they play Indianola.
