Oskaloosa, Iowa – Unlike in most sports, if you are not 100% you can rely on a teammate to help you out. In wrestling you can live with one, maybe two teammates out with injuries or illnesses, but you get beyond that and you are in a world of hurt. That is exactly where Osky found themselves this week.

Having starters out with injuries and illness caused the Indians a major problem, but the only way of handling it was with the wrestler mentality, to put your problems aside and go to war. That’s what the young Indians did Saturday at the Little Hawkeye Conference wrestling tournament. Coming off two home losses to two tough teams Thursday night in Williamsburg and Washington the boys were looking to get back on track and have a good showing.

Due to the injuries and illnesses Osky didn’t have wrestlers at several weights. There were several good showings on the day for the Indians as Junior Skylar DeJong and Freshman Drew Sams both made the finals, only to come up just short finishing 2nd. Josh Diehl, Nick Beebe, Drea Lamb and Callen Tomlin all fought back in the consolation rounds to finish 3rd , Jacob Clark and Kevin Merk had 4th place finishes and Hunter Simmons finished 6th .

Osky will look to get healthy in a hurry over the next couple weeks, before the district tournaments start. From districts the top two finishers will move on to the Iowa State Tournament.
