The Oskaloosa boys basketball team headed to Pella Friday night in hopes of getting some revenge on the Little Dutch for an early season loss.

The game started out with Osky taking a 2 – 0 lead. The Little Dutch then went on a 12 – 2 run to take a 12 – 4 lead, and they didn’t look back. Spencer Medlin had a couple moves to the basket and Ryan Reiter hit a 3 pointer along with another basket to end the quarter, with the score of  19 – 11 in favor of Pella.

Coach Tremmel said that the defensive pressure and the aggressive play by the Little Dutch caused Oskaloosa to start turning the ball over more.

Oskaloosa came out in the second quarter and started going inside to the posts and found success that Coach Tremmel knew they could have. Oskaloosa got baskets from Medlin,  Reiter, Ki-Jana Dejong, and Wade Votroubek to try to keep Oskaloosa in reach of the Little Dutch. With the turn over issues and getting out rebounded by Pella Oskaloosa found themselves down 42 – 25 at the half.

Oskaloosa came out in the second half and continued to have struggles with taking care of the basketball. The play of Oskaloosa’s post players continued to have some success, but the rebounding advantage and turnovers were too much to overcome for the Indians, as they lost 82 – 56.

Oskaloosa was lead by Spencer Medlin with 13 points, Ryan Reiter with 12 points and 6 rebounds, Wade Votroubek came off the bench with 11 points and 6 rebounds, and Ki-Jana Dejong  with 7 points and 6 rebounds.

Oskaloosa is back in action tomorrow as they travel to Mount Pleasant to take on the Panthers.
