GRINNELL’S MAHER NAMED MWC MEN’S BASKETBALL PERFORMER OF THE WEEK AGAIN

GRINNELL, Iowa – For the second time this season, Grinnell College’s Patrick Maher ’14 has been named Midwest Conference Men’s Basketball Performer of the Week.

Maher, a 6-6, 170-pound guard from Park Ridge, Ill. (Maine Township), turned in a double-double as the Pioneers pushed their record to 7-1 with a 156-150 non-conference win over Simpson College Saturday.

He dished out 17 assists, third-most in Pioneer history, and tallied 21 points in the victory. He also had a game-high four steals and grabbed four rebounds. Maher now ranks fourth in program history for career assists with 368.

Maher leads the MWC in assists with 7.4 a game and ranks in the top 10 in scoring (17.6 points per game), field goal percentage (60.3 percent), steals (2.0 per game), 3-point percentage (44.8 percent) and assist-turnover ratio (3.3).

The MWC Women’s Performer of the Week is Katie Schumacher of Lawrence University.
