Larry Whipple, 75, of Oskaloosa, died Sunday, November 10, 2013, at the MHP Hospice Serenity House in Oskaloosa.

Larry was born February 2, 1938, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, the son of Leonard and Rosella Schultz Whipple. He graduated from Oskaloosa High School with the class of 1956. Following high school he served four years in the United States Navy. He was honorably discharged in 1960.

On February 15, 1960, Larry was united in marriage to Connie Werner in Oskaloosa, they later divorced. Larry worked in the factory at Pella Corporation for over 33 years, he retired from there in 1997. He was a life member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion.

Larry’s family includes a son and his wife, Scott and Paula Whipple of Oskaloosa; a sister and her husband, Patsy and Laverne Braden of Oskaloosa; and his companion and caregiver Maggie Mitrisin of Oskaloosa.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A graveside memorial service with military honors will be held Wednesday, November 13, 2013, at 1 p.m. in the Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa.
As was his wish his body has been cremated and no visitation is planned.
A procession will form at the Bates Funeral Chapel at 12:40 Wednesday afternoon for those wishing to attend the service. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the Oskaloosa Honor Guard.
