GRINNELL, Iowa – Grinnell College linebacker David Ternes ’15 of Oakley, Calif. (Freedom) has been named the Midwest Conference Football Defensive Performer of the Week.

Ternes, the MWC leader in tackles, had a game-high 16 tackles in the Pioneers’ victory over Lawrence University. But more importantly, he had a pair of tackles on fourth down when the hosts had driven to the 1- and 2-yard lines to stop drives.

Ternes, an All-Region and All-MWC selection last season, leads the league with 108 tackles.

The MWC Offensive Performer of the Week is Luke Barthelmess of Lawrence, and Joey Kropp of Lake Forest College is the Special Teams Performer of the Week.
