The flag flying over the bandstand during the month of October is in honor of Thomas Harold Littlejohn.
Harold entered the Army, April 4, 1944, at Camp Dodge, Iowa. He served for 13 months in Germany where his specialty was truck driving. He was honorably discharged May 20, 1946 at Camp McCoy, WI. He received a Good Conduct Medal, Distinguished Unit Badge and an Army Occupation Medal (Germany).

Following his discharge, Harold returned to Oskaloosa where he resumed his employment with J.C. Van Arkel hauling grain.
