LIVE HEALTHY IOWA KIDS SELECTS OSKALOOSA ELEMENTARY FOR FALL FITNESS DAY
Fall Fitness Day coming near you on October 9th.
AMES, Iowa –Congratulations to Oskaloosa Elementary in being selected to have Live Healthy Iowa Kids visit your school to host the Fall Fitness Day on October 9th. Fall Fitness Day is a great opportunity to talk with the youth at your school or organization about why being healthy is important and to show kids that physical activity can be fun. Last year, over 100,000 kids within 300 schools or organizations participated in Fall Fitness Day.
Live Healthy Iowa Kids has thrown in a new twist this year on their annual event, Fall Fitness Day. “As we enter into our fifth annual year of offering this free, one-day event to schools and youth organizations to have kids active for an additional 30 minutes, we wanted to add something special to our schools,” said Lisa Weber, coordinator for Live Healthy Iowa.
Selected by random draw, Oskaloosa Elementary, Kindergarten through 5th grade, will receive a visit from the state-wide organization. Thus far, the activities planned during this visit will get kids up and moving by dancing to music and walking in the Healthiest State Initiative 1k walk.
Live Healthy Iowa Kids and Oskaloosa Elementary welcome friends, family, and community to come participate in all the fun. The event will start at 2:00 PM in the gymnasium where the Live Healthy Iowa staff will give a short introduction to Fall Fitness Day, followed by getting up, moving around while having fun.
There is still time to get your school registered for Fall Fitness Day! Please visit www.livehealthyiowakids.org and click “Join Today.” Any questions may be directed to Lisa at lisa.weber@livehealthyiowa.org or 888-777-8881×116.
In addition, all organizations who achieve 100% participation are eligible to win one of five awards, 1- $1,000 and 4-$250, to purchase new PE equipment, playground equipment or nutrition education resources. Oskaloosa Elementary was a recipient of one of these awards last year!
