Eugene was born March 16, 1946 in Oskaloosa the son of Floyd H. and Eileen E. Ferns Jones. He graduated from Pekin High School in 1965. Following graduation he worked at Hayesville Lumber, Fairfield Aluminum, and John Deere Ottumwa Works, retiring from there in 1999. He was united in marriage to Juanita Conger in Richland, Iowa on June 6, 1965.

Eugene enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, arrow head and relic hunting, woodworking, and spending the winters in Arizona. His greatest love was his family and his constant companion “Buffy.”

Eugene is survived by his wife Juanita of Martinsburg; his son Gene and wife Tina of Ollie; two grandchildren, Cody and Heidi both of Ollie; a step-granddaughter, Tiffany Hummell; a step great-granddaughter, Gracie; a sister Caroline Seaba and husband Donald of Atalissa, Iowa; many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a great niece.

Visitation: Open after 12:00 noon with family present from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. September 18, 2013 at Fremont Funeral Chapel
Funeral Service: 1:00 P.M. September 19, 2013 at Fremont Funeral Chapel, Fremont, Iowa
Interment: Mt. Zion Cemetery near Martinsburg, Iowa.
