Warren was born August 8, 1950 in Ottumwa, the son of Willis J. and Zora Ruth Miars Arendt.

He grew up on the family farm, where he raised and cared for animals. He was a graduate of Hedrick High School in 1969, and Indian Hills School of Nursing in 1971. Warren moved to Des Moines, and worked for the Veterans Hospital for several years and Iowa Methodist Hospital. He later worked in retail for 30 years. He moved to Missouri in 1990 with Hy-Vee and worked for them for 5 years. He was employed by Orschelin Farm and Home until 2006 when he became caregiver for his mom until she passed in 2007. On December 22, 2012, Warren was united in marriage to Gary Noble at the Ottumwa Country Club. Warren was one of the first gay single foster parents in Iowa in the 1970’s and had a foster son for 9 years.

He was an avid cook and opened two restaurants in Iowa before selling them and going to work for Hy-Vee. Warren entered the cooking contests at the Iowa State Fair in 1989, winning 52 ribbons his first year with one Best Of Show in pickles, and received a large amount of prize money. His recipes were published with Campbell’s Soup and Best of Iowa. The following year he was a judge in the food category at the Iowa State Fair. As a hobby he catered and baked cakes and desserts for over 30 years, retiring from baking after doing 500 wedding cakes and 900 birthday cakes. He had been working on his family cookbook of five generations. He was well know for his bacon fudge, and sour cream sugar cookies, his home canning and sharing his fresh veggies and canned goods with the elderly, his friends and family. His heart was large for the care and maintenance for animals and their well being.

Warren is survived by his husband, Gary Noble, aunts Dortha Bartman and Linda Edmondson, niece; April Stevens, nephews; Carson Noble and Douglas Arendt, great nephews; Payton and Bryer Stevens, David and Dean Arendt, Jaxon and Griffin Noble, his brother; Bob Arendt, brother-in-law; Billie (Jane) Noble, and his dogs: Bailey, Yula, Yanny, Zo’e, Clo’e, Jo’e , Bella and Miss Hatt’e; his cats: T-Vee, Purdy, Lucky, Aunt Hally, Starr, Cinnamon, and Halo, and many more, plus his many friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; John and Louise Korphage Arendt, Claude and Mae Arganbright Miars, his parents; Willis J. and Zora Ruth Miars Arendt, a sister and many pets: Dodo, Call’e, Cappie, Jake, Kitty, Gasper, Yoda, Yarra, Yonnie and Yancy.

Visitation: 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. September 19, 2013 at Fremont Funeral Chapel
Funeral Service: 10:30 A.M. September 20, 2013 at Fremont Funeral Chapel, Fremont, Iowa
Interment: Brooks Cemetery near Hedrick, Iowa.
Memorials may be made in his name to the heartland Humane Society in Ottumwa, Iowa.
