The flag flying over the bandstand during the month of August is in honor of Bob G. Wymore.

Bob entered the military, June 27, 1944; he was stationed at naval bases in Jacksonville, FL, Memphis, TN and Miami FL where he served as a gunner and radioman on SB2C (naval dive bomb airplane) and as a Navy Dive Bomber. He was discharged at the Great Lakes Separation Center June 20, 1946.

Following his discharge, Bob returned to Oskaloosa and began working for Mathew Lumber in Rose Hill and then Oskaloosa. Bob worked for Mathew Lumber for 45 years, retiring in 1992. . After Bob’s retirement, he helped with the grounds keeping at Forest Cemetery for another 10 years.
