MAHASKA COUNTY – Mahaska Health Partnership is pleased to introduce Dr. Tara Hoftiezer, a Family Practice physician joining the Medical Staff in August.

“I am very excited to be settling someplace permanently where Peter and I can both practice medicine and be part of such a wonderful community,” Dr. Tara exclaimed.

Dr. Tara is referring to her husband, Family Practice Physician Dr. Peter Hoftiezer, who also recently joined MHP’s Medical Staff. “My father is a family practice physician in Missouri and I previously practiced with him,” Dr. Tara explained. “After visiting Oskaloosa, we couldn’t wait to raise our family here and the atmosphere at MHP is exactly what Peter and I are looking for.”

Dr. Tara and her husband relocated to Oskaloosa this summer with their 21-month-old twins, Ethan and Elise. “I grew up in Bloomfield, Ia., and Peter also spent time in the Midwest as a child. It was important to us to be in a family-friendly community and we were very impressed by Oskaloosa during our visit.”

According to MHP CEO Jay Christensen, the addition of Dr. Tara brings MHP’s roster to more than 20 primary care providers available in Oskaloosa. “We are very pleased both Dr. Tara and Dr. Peter Hoftiezer have joined MHP. While Dr. Hoftiezer will be focusing on building a full-time primary care practice; Dr. Tara will be available on a part-time basis to assist patients needing same day appointments.”

Dr. Tara obtained her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree at Des Moines University – Osteopathic Medical Center in Des Moines, IA. She spent three years in a private family practice in Missouri.

“I like meeting new people and forming friendships with other families and couples,” Dr. Tara said. “The variety of ages and diagnoses I treat in my role as a family physician is very rewarding and I’m looking forward to making new friends in Oskaloosa.”
