Oskaloosa–This year’s #9 story recalls the newest facility upgrade at William Penn with the track being installed at Lacey Complex Stadium.

With plenty of help from fundraising efforts, most notably the First Annual Booster Club Duck Plucker’s Ball, WPU and the Oskaloosa School District enjoyed their first year of track and field at the stadium.

Both entities hosted their own events with Oskaloosa ‘breaking ground’ with the Oskaloosa Relays. William Penn followed suit a few weeks later, hosting both the Statesmen Relays and the Midwest Collegiate Conference Multi-Event Championships in April and then the MCC Championships in May.

The new facility has been a resounding success and the navy and gold are thrilled at the prospect of hosting more annual events in the future.

“It has been a real blessing to have the new track,” Head Track and Field Coach Allen Friesen said. “After the two meets we held at Lacey, we had tons of compliments on the facility. Lacey has been a real strong point for us in recruiting and we coaches feel it will benefit us in the years to come.”
