Kayla Nelson, a member of Kiwanis Club of Oskaloosa, reads the Dr. Seuss “Sleep Book” to children at SONshine Preschool. The club donates children’s books to learning centers in honor of individuals who present programs at its club meetings.

Kiwanis Club of Oskaloosa was founded in 1921 to combine the interests and talents of its members with a focus on serving the children of the world, beginning at home. The group meets weekly for lunch and an informational program. Its fundraising efforts support literacy, fine arts, recreation, health and education of children and youth. In the past year, two clubs for local youth have been formed—the Builders Club for middle-school age students and Key Club for high school students. Both are student-led service organizations.

For more information, contact the club at oskaloosakiwanis@gmail.com or call 641-672-2859.
