Oskaloosa–Valinn McReynolds (Grad., Bellville, Texas, Master’s of Business Leadership) was recognized for her great success on and off the field of competition Thursday.

McReynolds was named an all-District 5 College Division honoree for Track and Field and Cross Country as part of the Capitol One Academic All-America program by CoSIDA.

The all-district accolade recognizes student-athletes not only for their athletic prowess but also their successes academically. The College division includes institutions within the NAIA ranks as well as Canadian universities and two-year schools.

McReynolds competed in all three sports, but had by far her biggest impact in the fall. The graduate student qualified for her first cross country national championships by placing third at the Midwest Collegiate Conference Championships. The first-team all-MCC selection posted three of the top six 5K times in school history this year.

She was William Penn’s best distance runner on the track as well, leading the program in the 3,000 and 5,000-meter runs during the indoor season and 1,500 and 5,000-meter runs during the outdoor campaign.

To be eligible for the award, athletes must be of at least sophomore academic standing, be a starter or key reserve player (other playing requirements where applicable), maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.3 or above on a 4.0 scale, and have attended the nominating institution for at least one full calendar year.
