Tony passed away Wednesday evening at Crystal Heights Care Center in Oskaloosa at the age of 84 years, 9 months and 20 days.
Anthony Frederick Kool, son of Fred and Freida (Hewitt) Kool, was born, July 26, 1928, in Oskaloosa, Iowa. Tony was a 1948 graduate of Oskaloosa High School. Following his education, Tony went to work for Ideal Manufacturing. In 1950 Tony was drafted into the military and he served through 1952. Upon his return to Oskaloosa he resumed his career at Ideal Manufacturing, where he worked as the shipping manager until 1973. Tony then worked at Intraco for a brief time and went on to own and operate Curry Vault Company. Anthony married Lillian Ruth McBeth and to this union four children were born. Tony enjoyed playing his guitar and singing for his children and grandchildren, two of his and their favorite songs were “Sneaky Snake” and “You Are My Sunshine”. He enjoyed Honky Tonkin’, dancing, sipping Sprite and socializing with friends.
Tony’s family includes his children: Nick (Cindy) Kool of Columbus, Nebraska; Roy (Terri) Kool of Oskaloosa; Brenda (Jeff) Ryan of Rochelle, IL and Stacie (Bill) Hudson of Oskaloosa; twelve grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Sam (Alice) Kool of Eddyville and Howard (Janet) Kool of McCook, NE; a sister, Kathy Rawson of Troy Mills, Iowa; a sister-in-law, JoAnn Kool of Oskaloosa; a brother-in-law, Clark Cook of Story City, Iowa; many nieces and nephews and many close friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers: Clayton, Harry and Andrew Kool; two sisters: Zua Kool and Stella Cook; a brother-in-law, Carl Rawson; a sister-in-law, Sandy Kool and a nephew, Duane Kool.
Memorial Services for Tony will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 15, 2013, at Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa. Family and friends may gather at Forest Cemetery.
As was his wish, Tony’s body has been cremated. Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
