Oskaloosa–William Penn University Volleyball Coach Jeremy Wise has announced the signing of Shawni Wills to a National Letter of Intent to attend the University in the fall and compete for the volleyball program.

Shawni, the daughter of Jay and Joy Wills, is a native of Oskaloosa and will graduate from Oskaloosa HS this month.

Wills was a two-time varsity letterwinner on the court, and earned second-team all-Little Hawkeye Conference honors as a senior. Also an honorable-mention all-LHC pick as a junior, she earned the Coaches Award this past fall.

A three-sport athlete, Wills has thus far picked up three all-conference honors as an Indian softball player (first team last year) and was a two-time letterwinner in track.

Wills is a strong scholar, receiving seven academic letters. Beyond sports, she is a very involved student at Oskaloosa HS, serving on the Student Council all four years of high school. She was named Class President as a sophomore.

Wills is also a member of Pheasants Forever and Staying Alive (an organization for students against drunk driving). She plans to major in biology.

“We are pleased to add such a quality student-athlete into our program,” Wise said. “She is also a quality teammate and person. I have seen Shawni progress over her high school career and club seasons into a well-rounded player. She has primarily been used as a right-side attacker to take advantage of her strong left arm, but she can play several spots on the court. She possesses a strong, low-trajectory serve and has the ability to put a good swing on almost every set.”
