Duck Plucker’s Ball raffle winner presented with custom rifle
William Penn University President Ann Fields presented raffle winner Rob Harvey with a custom Henry 22 Golden Boy Rifle on April 11. The rifle was one of three raffle items awarded at the first annual Duck Plucker’s Ball last July. After numerous failed attempts to reach the original out-of-state winner, the planning committee decided to hold another drawing. Oskaloosa native Rob Harvey was named the new winner. The brass-plated rifle is one-of-a-kind, featuring an exact replica of the William Penn University Presidential Medallion.
Harvey, who attended last year’s Duck Plucker’s Ball, participated in the Field Games held at the Izaak Walton League. Harvey competed against President Fields in the sharpshooting contest last July and took second place in the event, with President Fields earning first place.
The William Penn Athletic Booster Club will host the second annual Duck Plucker’s Ball on Saturday, July 27, 2013. The day will once again begin with Field Games held at the Izaak Walton League from 9:00 am–4:00 pm. The event will continue at the Penn Central Mall with silent and live auctions, dinner, raffle drawings, and contests with prizes awarded for best dressed, best table decorations, and best wild culinary creations. This year’s raffle drawings are for a Remington 700 Classic Deluxe 243 rifle and a grill donated by True Value Hardware of Oskaloosa. To register for the Duck Plucker’s Ball, or purchase raffle tickets, contact the William Penn University Office of Advancement at 641-673-1044, or by email at duckpluckers@wmpenn.edu, or find us on Facebook under “Duck Plucker’s Ball”. Proceeds will benefit WPU Athletics, the Oskaloosa School District, and Mahaska County recreation programs by supporting continued progress at the Stadium at Lacey Recreation Complex.
