William Penn University will host for the first time ever a MCC Multi-championship and MCC outdoor track conference meet this April and May at the stadium track located at Lacey Recreation Complex. In the past facilities have not allowed for inviting such a conference. Greg Hafner, William Penn athletic director stated, “”This will be the first time William Penn has hosted a conference track meet. We are proud of the facility at the Lacey Complex and will be anxious to bring all of the MCC teams to our community.” Allen Friesen, Penn head track coach added that he is proud to be able to host these events. “It should be a very exciting meet with events that should please just about anybody’s taste. Some events that will be part of the meet that most people do not get to see at high school meets are the pole vault, hammer throw and the steeple chase. The steeple chase gets a lot of attention due to the water pit that is involved in the race. We encourage the community of Oskaloosa to come out and see some of the best track athletes in Iowa and from around the country compete.” William Penn began practice earlier this month at the stadium.
