Donald Eugene Beason, 59, of Oskaloosa, died Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at his daughter’s home in Oskaloosa.

Donald was born November 13, 1953, at Oskaloosa, the son of Kenneth and Henrietta Hite Beason. He served in the United States Army. On September 23, 1977, he was united in marriage to Kyong Cha Chon in South Korea. Don worked at several places throughout his life including, driving semi for many years, working in the factory at John Deere, and construction for Manatts. Lastly he worked as a mechanic for Cunningham Inc. in Oskaloosa. He enjoyed fishing and working on cars. He delighted in spending time with his grandchildren.

His family includes his wife, Kyong Beason of Oskaloosa; three daughters and their husbands, Terri and Aaron Menefee of Cedar Falls, Tara and Raymond Welch of Oskaloosa, and Melissa and Casey Morrison of Barstow, California; six grandchildren, Merick and Koy Welch, Odessa, Odiya Menefee, and Tyris and Shaelyn; a brother and his wife, Larry and Linda Beason of New Sharon; a sister, Linda Carlson of Oskaloosa; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Sherry Arthur; two brothers, Danny Beason and Kenneth Beason; and two nephews, Terry Brown and Kyle Arthur.

Visitation will begin Sunday after 11 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel and the family will be at the funeral chapel from 3:30 – 5:30 Sunday afternoon to greet friends and relatives.

Funeral services will be held Monday, March 18, 2013, at 1 p.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa.

Burial will be in the Searsboro Cemetery at Searsboro. Graveside military rites will be given by members of the Oskaloosa American Legion and V.F.W. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the Donald Beason Memorial Fund, to be used for Autism Awareness.
