William “Bill” Ryun, 73, of Oskaloosa passed away Wednesday evening, February 27, 2013, at Northern Mahaska Rehab Center in Oskaloosa.
William Ryun, son of Eugene and Mary Elizabeth Lancaster Ryun, was born, May 25, 1939, in Chariton, Iowa. Bill was raised in Chariton and attended Chariton High School. His first job was hanging billboards across Iowa. Early in his working career he also worked for a turkey farm. Over the years Bill worked for Van Gorp Corporation in Pella as a night foreman, Clow Valve Company in the foundry, and finally with Pella Construction which was purchased by Ideal Supply as a truck driver.
Bill married Susane K. Johnson, July 2, 1982, at the New Sharon United Methodist Church. They made their home in rural Oskaloosa. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bird watching and spending time with his grandchildren.
His family includes his wife, Susane of Oskaloosa; sons: Kyle (Tresa) Ryun of Allerton, Iowa; Tyler Ryun of Oskaloosa and Bob Ryun of Pella; and daughters: Jeanne Ryun of Des Moines and Debbie (Johnny) Kelly of Knoxville; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister, Janice (Chip) Graves of Williamson, Iowa and Don (Dixie) Ryun of Knoxville.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by two sisters: Shirley Casebolt and Barbara Singleton.
Visitation: will begin at 11 a.m., Friday morning, March 01, 2013 at Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel. The family will be present from 5 – 6 p.m. to greet visitors.
Funeral Service: 1:30 p.m., Saturday, March 02, 2013 at Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel with Reverend Kyle Ryun of the Allerton Christian Church in Allerton, Iowa officiating.
