Beasley’s Garners 7th POW? Why Not?
Oskaloosa–This weekly honor business is way past old hat for Brandon Beasley (Sr., Indianapolis, Ind., Physical Education) as he again collected Midwest Collegiate Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week honors Monday.
The senior received his seventh award of the year (fourth in the last five weeks) by helping top-ranked William Penn (28-1, 12-0 MCC) finish off its league slate undefeated.
Beasley averaged 19.0 points and 11.5 rebounds, including a 19-point, 13-rebound effort versus Grand View last Saturday. The forward shot 59.1% from the floor (40.0% 3-PT; 71.4% FT) and also averaged 4.5 assists, 3.0 steals, and 1.0 blocks last week. He now has 12 double-doubles.
For the year, Beasley is averaging 19.1 points and 8.7 rebounds in addition to 101 assists, 73 steals, and 36 blocks. He is shooting 53.9% overall and owns a 69.3% clip from the charity stripe.
The forward leads the MCC in scoring and rebounding and is also in the top ten in seven other major categories. Nationally, he ranks in the top 50 in 11 areas. Most notably, he is seventh in steals per game (2.6) and eighth in total steals. Beasley’s scoring average is good for 16th in NAIA Division II.
The award is the ninth of the season for William Penn.
