MAHASKA COUNTY – The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints recently donated handmade teddy bears and blankets for pediatric patients who visit the MHP Emergency Department. According to Diane Ottosson, the gifts were created through the “Santa’s Workshop” activity group at the church, and the youth groups took part in making this donation happen. “Young children stuffed the bears while older ones were able to tie the blankets or sew the bear patterns,” Ottoson said. “We’re hoping the bears and blankets will find their way into the hands of little ones who might be going through something scary or traumatic and that they bring comfort.”
