Foster Qualifies Again
Pella–Meaghan Foster (Fr., Centerville, Iowa) is now a two-time national qualifier as the William Penn women’s indoor track and field team competed at the Central Invitational Saturday.
As a team, William Penn placed third out of six teams with 84 points. Host Central won the event with 188 points.
Foster, who had already qualified in the shot put, punched her ticket for the second time by winning the weight throw with a ‘B’ standard toss of 53-7.5. She also earned runner-up honors in the shot put at 40-5.5.
Sade Myers (So., Honolulu, Hawaii) joined Foster as an event champion, winning the 600-meter run with a time of 1:42.70.
Jazmine Epps (Fr., Princeton, Texas) was the busiest member of the navy and gold squad, placing in the top ten in three events. The freshman was second in the high jump (4-11), third in the 200-meter dash (27.80 seconds), and fourth in the 55-meter dash (7.70 seconds).
Emily Giles (Fr., New Salisbury, Ind.) and Alexis Swinney (So., McKinney, Texas) collected two top-tens as well. Giles was sixth in the 55-meter dash at 7.93 seconds and tenth in the 200-meter dash at 29.52 seconds, while Swinney was fourth in the 200 (28.09 seconds) and was a finalist in the 55.
Three other top-five placings were recorded at the Invite. Audre Harris (Sr., Junction City, Kan.) was third in the 55-meter hurdles (9.26 seconds), Fatoumata Samura (So., Bronx, N.Y.) was fourth in the 400-meter run (1:04.23), and Amanda Schrempf (Fr., Marshalltown, Iowa) was fifth in the shot put (33-9.25).
