Marjorie M. Gambell, 92, of Hedrick died Sunday, December 23, 2012 Ottumwa Regional Health Center in Ottumwa. She was born Tuesday, March 9, 1920 in Hedrick, Iowa, the Daughter of John Burton and Freece Baldwin Swearingen. She graduated from Hedrick High School in 1937. Following graduation she attended Iowa Success Business School in Ottumwa and worked for O.W. Stoltz Brokerage Company. On September 6, 1939 she was united in marriage to Richard Gambell at Hedrick, Iowa. Richard passed away on December 15, 1988. Marjorie was a lifelong member of Hedrick-Martinsburg United Methodist Church and also a member of Hedrick-Martinsburg United Methodist Women, along with being a 50 year plus member of Ollie Chapter Eastern Star. She also belonged to the ODO Club and the Friendly Hour Club. Marjorie was an avid gardener for many years and enjoyed cooking and baking, especially her angel food cake. She always made sure nobody left the house hungry. She enjoyed watching the Iowa Hawkeyes football and basketball teams. Marjorie was the ROCK and LOVE of the Family. Her family includes two sons: R. Stanley Gambell (Connie) of Hedrick and Lyle B. Gambell of Hedrick; a daughter: Janice (Lyle) Shaw of Southbury, CT; 4 grandchildren: Doug (Christy) Gambell of Hedrick, Brad Gambell of Hedrick, Greg (Vicky) Shaw of Williamsburg, VA, and Christine (John) Cowart of San Diego, CA; 9 great grandchildren: Andrew, Haley, Taylor, McKenna, Maci, Austin, Tyler, Philip and KayLeigh; 2 great great granddaughters: Carlie Rae and Carter Elaine, along with many nieces and nephews and her many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and a sister: Helen Daniels

Visitation: Open after 1:00 PM with family present from 4:00 until 6:00 PM December 27, 2012 at Fremont Funeral Chapel
Funeral Service: 10:00 A.M. December 28, 2012 at Fremont Funeral Chapel
Interment: Brooks Cemetery near Hedrick.

Memorials may be made in Marjorie’s name to the Hedrick-Martinsburg United Methodist Church.
