The Oskaloosa Public Library will be offering the following free computer classes in January:

Computer Basics
Part 1: Tuesday, January 8th – 11:30 a.m.
Part 2: Thursday, January 10th – 11:30 a.m.
This two-part class is for true beginners! You’ll learn about the parts of a computer, the difference between software and hardware and how to use a mouse and more!

Intro to the Internet
Part 1: Tuesday, January 8th – 6:30 p.m.
Part 2: Thursday, January 10th – 6:30 p.m.
Get an introduction to the World Wide Web! Participants will learn about Internet browsers, basic search techniques and how to access news, maps and more! Basic computer knowledge suggested.

Intro to Email
Tuesday, January 15th – 11:30 a.m.
Get started with email! Participants will learn how to register a free Gmail account, send and receive messages, and attach files to messages. Some computer and Internet experience recommended.

Ask a Librarian
Thursday, January 17th – 11:30 a.m.
Have a question about your computer? This session will have no set topic. Staff will be available to answer any technology related questions you have. You’re welcome to bring a laptop or device if you have one.

Getting Started with Facebook
Part 1: Tuesday, January 15th – 6:30 p.m.
Part 2: Thursday, January 17th – 6:30 p.m.
Get started on the web’s most popular social networking site, Facebook. Learn how to establish an account, edit your personal information, find friends, and control content and privacy settings. Participants must have a valid email address and be familiar with the web.

Classes take place in the computer lab on the first floor and are limited to 6 participants. Registration is required. You can register for classes by calling (641) 673-0441 or by asking at the first floor Circulation Desk.
