Cloud Seventh in NAIA’s First Rating
Oskaloosa–A young William Penn wrestling team is still learning the ropes and therefore is not yet receiving a lot of exposure nationally as the NAIA released its first regular season poll last week.
William Penn is unofficially 24th with eight points, while defending national champion Grand View has taken hold of the top spot with 137 points. Preseason #1 Southern Oregon has fallen to second with 99.5 points, while Campbellsville (Ky.) (87.5), Missouri Valley (85.5), and Morningside (73.5) round out the top five.
Carey Cloud (So., Havelock, N.C., Industrial Technology) is the only nationally-ranked grappler for the Statesmen. The sophomore, who has started the year with a 6-2 record, is seventh place at 149 pounds.
William Penn is tied for seventh in the Central Qualifying Group ratings with 26 points. Grand View is first with 204 points.
Cloud tops a pair of ranked wrestlers, falling to third at 149 pounds. Ishmael Rempson (Fr., Olympia Fields, Ill., Rich Central HS) is again ranked, sitting in sixth at 157 pounds.
