Memorial Service: 10 a.m., Saturday morning November 24, 2012 at Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa with Alvern Boetsma officiating. Family and friends may gather at Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel on Saturday by 9:30 a.m. to form a procession to the cemetery.
Steven died Wednesday morning at the Mahaska Health Partnership Hospice Services Serenity House in Oskaloosa of C.O.P.D. at the age of 64 years, 7 months and 8 days.

Steve was a 1966 graduate of Oskaloosa High School. Through the years he worked in the foundry at Clow Valve Company and most recently at Dubuque Meat Packing Plant in Dubuque and at Farmland near the Quad-Cities.

Steve is survived by his children: Ricci Rankin of Darlington, WI, Shanel Fahlenkamp of Montezuma, IA and Max Rankin of Dewar, IA and families; two sisters: Donna Howard Johnson and her husband, Dale Johnson of New Sharon and Carolyn (Mike) Melcher of Ankeny. He was preceded in death by his parents, Max Rankin and Jean Rankin McMorran; a son, Scooter Rankin, and a nephew, John Melcher.

Memorials may be made to the MHP Serenity House.

“Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and proclaiming, ‘Wow, what a ride!!!’”
