Lighted Christmas Parade Change 2012 One Night Only!
Oskaloosa, Iowa – This year’s parade is November 29th at 7:00 pm beginning at the Oskaloosa Downtown Square.
The Oskaloosa Area Chamber, the Oskaloosa Police Department and City Officials want everyone to be safe and enjoy this year’s 25th annual Lighted Christmas Parade.
Just a friendly reminder of the changes that took place last year. First, due to safety concerns the Chamber and the City will be implementing a strict policy of not allowing the public to get too close to the floats along the parade route, especially on High Avenue from 3rd Street up to Market Street. As a precaution, event officials will ban all parking on High Ave after 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Thursday November 29th. The standing area on High Avenue will be roped off this year in an effort to maintain a safe and larger operating area for the floats along the parade route. We are asking that all patrons of the parade observe the safety precautions.
A final item of note for this year’s event is the throwing or handing out of candy. As in years past, candy should only be handed to children by adults walking the parade route. The enforcement of these rules is for the safety and benefit for you as a patron of the event and for the operators of the floats driving the parade route.
Below you will find a map of the parade route so you can plan ahead on where you would like to be this year.
