Shirley Ann Paxton, 70, of Albia and formerly of Fremont died Saturday, November 3, 2012 at Oakwood Nursing and Rehab in Albia. She was born Sunday, July 5, 1942 in Hayesville, Iowa, the daughter of Merle and Geneva Van Orsdall Paxton. Following school Shirley stayed home to help raise her brothers and sister. She also worked as a C.N.A. for a time, and later at Tenco, and provided in home care. She enjoyed playing cards, Bingo, embroidery work, and making hook rugs. She was a huge Iowa Hawkeye and Philadelphia Eagles fan, but most importantly spending time with her family, friends, and her extended family at Oakwood Nursing and Rehab.

She is survived by two daughters: Jennifer Paxton and Lucinda (& Norman) Blád both of Fremont; a son: Jayme Paxton of Fremont; 3 grandchildren: Allison, Vanessa, and Landen Blád all of Fremont; 4 brothers: Terry (& Nancy) Paxton and Richard Paxton both of Oskaloosa, and Dennis and Danny Paxton both of Fremont; and a sister: Deb Paxton of Fremont.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers: Larry, David, and Robert Paxton.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 7, 2012, at 2 P.M. at the Fremont Funeral Chapel with Reverend Bill Hornback officiating. Burial will be in Van Orsdall Cemetery near Ollie. Visitation will begin Tuesday after 1 P.M. and the family will be present at the funeral home Tuesday from 5 – 7 P.M. to greet friends and relatives. Memorials may be made to the Shirley Paxton Memorial Fund.
