GRINNELL’S TYREE NAMED MIDWEST CONFERENCE MEN’S SOCCER DEFENSIVE PERFORMER OF THE WEEK

GRINNELL, Iowa – Grinnell College’s Isaiah Tyree ’15, a 6-1, 175-pound goal keeper from Rachos De Taos, N.M. (Taos), has been named the Midwest Conference Men’s Soccer Defensive Performer of the Week.

Tyree made 10 saves and allowed just two goals in 180 minutes as the Pioneers prevailed in two “must-win” situations to advance to the MWC Tournament. He had five saves in a 5-1 victory over Monmouth College and added five more as the Pioneers rallied with two goals in the final 6 minutes to beat Ripon College 2-1 and move on to the postseason tourney.

For the season, Tyree has a 1.28 goals against average and .786 saves percentage. He is the second Pioneer men’s player to be named MWC Performer of the Week this season.

The MWC Offensive Performer of the Week is Mahir Mameledzija of Lake Forest College.
