Daniel Lloyd Russell, 60, of North Mankato, Minnesota and formerly of Oskaloosa, died Thursday, October 25, 2012, at his home in North Mankato. He was born October 15, 1952, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, the son of Carl and Norma Vander Horst Russell. He graduated from the Oskaloosa High School with the class of 1971. Early on he worked various jobs. He was a semi-truck driver for over 25 years. During that time he drove for many different companies. He also worked for Vermeer in Pella for several years. In December of 1999, he moved to North Mankato, Minnesota. He was an avid fisherman and Iowa Hawkeye Fan.
His family includes his children, Dawn, Christopher, Joshua, Rusty, Jennifer, Ronald, Johnathon, and Rebecca; nine grandchildren; his father and his wife, Carl (& Jane) Russell of Windsor Heights, Iowa; two brothers, Ret. Chaplain Major Thomas (& Jacque) Russell of Riverside, California and Larry (& Belle) Russell of Columbus, Ohio; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother; a granddaughter, Lexi Russell and his grandparents.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 30, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with Pastor Tom Russell officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will begin Monday morning after 11 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel and the family will be at the funeral chapel on Monday evening from 5-7 to greet friends and relatives. Memorials may be made to the MHP Hospice Serenity House.
