Central College

PELLA—Central College sophomore Eli Horton (Runnells, Southeast Polk HS) is the Iowa Conference men’s cross country performer of the week.

It’s Horton’s third time receiving the honor this year and his fourth overall.

Horton placed second in a 461-runner field at the Wis.-La Crosse Jim Drews Invitational last Saturday. He covered the 8,000-meter course in 25 minutes, 13.1 seconds and was the top Division III finisher. Iowa Central’s Stanley Kebenei captured the individual title at 24:45.3.

Horton led the Dutch to third place in the 26-team field with 131 points. Wis.-La Crosse, ranked seventh in the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association national poll, won the meet with 45 points. No. 23 Wis.-Platteville was second with 111.

Central has the weekend off and returns to the course Oct. 27 for the Iowa Conference championship meet at Cedar Rapids.
