Theresa Rempe, 91, of Oskaloosa died Sunday, October 14, 2012, at the Oskaloosa Care Center in Oskaloosa. She was born August 16, 1921, near Otley, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Anna Keuning Van Essen. She attended Liberty Corner Country School and Pella High School. On October 24, 1941, she was united in marriage to Homer Rempe at Unionville, Missouri. Homer died on July 20, 2000. Early on they lived in and around Leighton. In 1950 they moved to a farm east of Oskaloosa where she resided until moving to the Oskaloosa Care Center in July of 2011. Theresa was a homemaker and helped Homer on the farm. Her life centered around her family and praising and serving her Lord and Savior. She enjoyed family gatherings, visiting family members, reading, baking, and watching religious and cooking shows on television. Theresa had a deep rooted faith in Jesus, she read and studied her bible daily, she volunteered numerous hours at church and went on many mission trips with Homer. Theresa and Homer were founding members of the Grace Full Gospel Church in Oskaloosa in the late 1980’s and the Full Gospel Businessman’s Fellowship. She attended Calvary Bible Church and enjoyed the Thursday morning quilting group.

Memories of Theresa will be cherished forever by her surviving family, which includes; two sons and their wives, Clarence and Joyce Rempe of Pella and John and Norma Rempe of Centennial, Colorado; her daughter and her husband, Sally and Dale Malloy of Oskaloosa; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Mark and Lori Rempe, Bruce and Mabel Rempe, Brenda and Wayne Stahl, Vickie and David Van Donselaar, Kim and Shawn Kroeger, Michael and Becky Rempe and Jenny and Doug Kane; twenty great grandchildren; and a very special friend, Lynnette Van Donselaar.

In addition to her husband Homer, she was preceded in death by; her parents, two sisters, Tonetta DeCook and Ruth Barnes; two brothers, Clarence and Harold Van Essen; and two great grandsons, Joshua Stahl and Dalton Kane.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 19, at 10:00 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with Reverend Chester Render officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery near Leighton. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will begin Thursday morning after 10:00 a.m. with the family present from 5-7 p.m. to greet family and friends.
