Sandra J. Kool, 75, of Oskaloosa, died Monday, October 8, 2012, at the Serenity House in Oskaloosa. She was born May 28, 1937, in Mahaska County, Iowa, the daughter of Clyde and Margaret Tennis Allgood. She attended the Beacon school, and later Oskaloosa High School. On May 14, 1955, Sandy was united in marriage to Harry C. Kool at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa, and Harry died September 25, 2012. Early on she stayed home to care for her children. She started working for the Oskaloosa Livestock Sale Barn, once her children were in school. Sandy later earned her real estate agent and broker license and was the broker of Kool Real Estate and Auction in Oskaloosa. She was a member of the New Hope Free Methodist Church, Oskaloosa, and was a past president of the Oskaloosa Board of Realtors. She enjoyed reading and collecting frog figurines.
Sandy is survived by her daughter and her husband, Pamela and Buster Albertson of Oskaloosa; a daughter in law, Debra Kool of St. Paul, Minnesota; and two grandsons, Danny and Levi Kool.
In addition to her husband Harry, Sandy was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Harry Duane Kool; a grandson, Mathew Englehoven; and a brother, C. Rodger “Pete” Allgood.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 11, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with Pastor Dave Leraan officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will begin on Wednesday after 12 noon, and the family will be at the funeral chapel on Wednesday from 5 – 7 p.m. to greet friends and relatives. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Serenity House.
