Lady Statesmen Fall 4-0 at Viterbo

William Penn Women’s Athletics

La Crosse, Wis.–The William Penn women’s soccer team faced its toughest competition of the year Saturday and unfortunately could not come away with the upset in a 4-0 loss to Viterbo in Midwest Collegiate Conference play.

The Lady Statesmen (1-10, 0-2 MCC) were outshot 17-4, including a 12-1 disadvantage prior to the break. That is where the V-Hawks (10-1, 2-0 MCC) did most of their damage with three goals in the first eight minutes. Molly Machometa, one of the top scorers in the NAIA, had two goals in the first stanza.

The home team added one more score in the 58th minute. Four different William Penn players notched a shot, while Amber Klootwyk (Fr., Knoxville, Iowa, Business Management/Education) posted four saves in the loss.

Next: The Lady Statesmen remain on the road, traveling to Des Moines Tuesday to face AIB in MCC action at 3 p.m.
