E.B.F.H.S Band Wins Contests

The Eddyville Blakesburg Fremont Marching Band had a great day in Cedar Rapids and Pella Saturday as they outscored a total of 14 other bands in two marching band competitions. In the morning, the band competed at the Linn-Mar Marching Band Contest and placed 1st in class 2A with a score of 70.3. The band also placed 1st at the Marching Dutch Invitational with a score of 68.1.

At the Linn-Mar Festival, the E.B.F.H.S. Band outscored the bands from Maquoketa, Davis County, Solon, Western Dubuque, and Bettendorf.
That evening, the EBHS Marching Band placed 1st in class 2A at the Marching Dutch Invitational Contest in Pella. EB also won the Outstanding Drumlne and Color Guard Awards in class 2A. EBF placed 3rd in overall competition outscoring the bands from Don Bosco, North Mahaska, Ogden, Cardinal, North Polk, Oskaloosa, Bondurant-Farrar, Cedar Rapids Kennedy, and Newton.

The E.B.F.H.S. Marching Band has 70 members this year. The soloists for this year’s show are Andrea Long, Anna Haselhuhn, Jessica Jones, and Heath Rice. The Drum Majors are Samantha Claypool and Emma Haselhuhn. The band is directed by Joe Overton, Dezirae Russell, and Color Guard instructor Paige Langstraat.

This Saturday, the band travels to Bloomfield for the Davis County Festival of Bands. They perform at 7:15 in class 2A competition. The band competes at Valleyfest in West Des Moines on October 6th. On October 13th the band competes at State Marching Band Contest in Pella and then at the Mid-Iowa Band Championships in Ankeny that evening.
