Oskaloosa. Franklin “Junior” Kaskadden, 85, of Oskaloosa, died Wednesday, September 19, 2012, at the Mahaska Health Partnership Hospice Serenity House in Oskaloosa. He was born March 29, 1927, in Oskaloosa, Iowa the son of Benjamin Franklin and Mildred Moore Kaskadden. He served in the United States Army, and was honorably discharged on February 4, 1947. In 1955 he was united in marriage to Alzada Huff at Aledo, Illinois, they later divorced. Junior worked as a mechanic for 30 years, retiring from Kingma Motors in Oskaloosa in 1985. In retirement he drove semi for various companies. He enjoyed fishing, racing, and feeding the birds and squirrels. He was a member of the American Legion.

His family includes his two children, Barb Goodyk of Oskaloosa and Joe (& Patricia) Kaskadden of Oskaloosa; four grandchildren, Kelley Goodyk, Wiebe Goodyk, Mary Kaskadden, and Sammy Kaskadden; seven great grandchildren, including Toryn (Kelley’s daughter); a brother, Norman Fox of California; a brother in law, Eggert (& Inez) Thomsen of Newell, Iowa; many close friends and neighbors including, Tonya his caregiver, Judy his nurse, and his neighbors and good friends, Skeeter and Smitty; and many nieces and nephews.

Junior was preceded in death by his parents, his stepmother, Dora Kaskadden; a sister, Alberta Thomsen; and two brothers, Eddie Fox and Leroy Kaskadden.

As was Junior’s wish his body has been deeded to the University of Iowa, Carver School of Medicine. No visitation or services are planned. The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff of Mahaska Hospice, and suggest that memorial contributions be made to the Hospice Serenity House. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
