Peery Notches Second Honor

William Penn University Athletics

Oskaloosa–Brock Peery (Jr., Payson, Utah, Secondary Education) is adding to a great tradition of linebackers bearing his last name as he was named Midwest League Defensive Player of the Week today.

Brock, the younger brother of two-time Statesmen All-American Clint Peery, earned his second award this year (and career) due to his impact in Saturday’s 48-14 MWL win over Waldorf.

The junior tallied a team-best 16 tackles and also returned a fumble 96 yards for a touchdown (presumed to be a school record). His 16 stops are a career high, while the touchdown is also the first of his career. Peery paced the defense in forcing a 2012-high five turnovers.

For the year, he tops the navy and gold with 42 tackles (18 solo, 24 assists), including one for a loss. He also has one pass breakup and two fumble recoveries.
