Cheerleaders Helping Ronald McDonald House Charities

William Penn Cheerleaders 2012

Oskaloosa–As part of the NAIA’s Champions of Character initiative, the William Penn cheerleading team will be collecting pull tabs from beverage cans to assist with the Ronald McDonald House Charities.

From the start of the year until next April, the team will be accumulating the tabs and then delivering their collection to the Ronald McDonald House of Greater Des Moines. Collection boxes will be found at the entrance of all home football and basketball games, while supporters can also drop off tabs at the William Penn Athletic Offices or give them to their favorite cheerleader.

“Community service projects are a part of who we are and how we represent our University,” Head Coach Jill Thompson said. “In the past, we have been very involved in giving back to the Oskaloosa community. This year, we are extending our reach to help the Ronald McDonald House in Des Moines.”

The pull tabs will be taken to a recycling center and all the funds generated from that will help offset the House’s expenses.
