9th Annual Youth Outdoor Field Day at Russell Wildlife Area

Oskaloosa, Iowa – Come join the Mahaska County Conservation Board and local conservation groups for a whole day of hands-on outdoor activities! The 9th Annual Youth Outdoor Field Day will be held at the Russell Wildlife Area on Saturday, September 29 from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. The events held this year include archery, bowfishing, .22 rifle shooting, fishing, wildlife identification/safety trail and a wilderness hunting camp. The cost is just $5.00 which includes a t-shirt and a lunch for the registrant. Parents are encouraged to stay for the day. One adult’s meal is also provided with each child’s registration.

Registration ends on September 21 and is limited to the first 225 participants. A printable registration can be found on MCCB’s website which is www.mahaskaconservation.com. The Russell Wildlife Area is located four miles north of Oskaloosa on Hwy. 63 and one mile east on 200th street. The following conservation groups are helping with this year’s event: Mahaska County Pheasants Forever, Mahaska Fan Club NWTF, Mahaska County Izaak Walton League, Bowfishing Association of Iowa, and Mahaska County Ducks Unlimited.
