State Export Conference To Be Held In Poweshiek County

Iowa Innovation Gateway, its partners and the Iowa Economic Development Authority are hosting: “Risk and Rewards, an Exporting Conference” to be held November 2, 2012 from 8 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at the Michael J. Manatt Community Center in Brooklyn, Iowa. The keynote speaker is Michael Flaherty, Canadian Consul and Senior Trade Commissioner. Mr. Flaherty will speak about the Canadian market and American – Canadian trade.
Attendees will hear from Agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation who will address safeguarding proprietary information and include topics such as illegal acts by foreign competitors, the inside threat – corrupt or disgruntled employees, theft of trade secrets, risks and mitigation, protecting intellectual property while traveling abroad.
Attendees will hear about the risks and rewards of various markets. Experienced exporters will discuss the various markets around the world that they are active in and just entering. Attendees will also learn smart tools to mitigate the risk and reap the rewards as well as resources involved in exporting.
During the luncheon, awards for excellence in exporting will be presented by Governor Terry Branstad to several Central Iowa companies.
