GRINNELL COLLEGE COLLECTS ALL-ACADEMIC HONORS IN TRACK AND FIELD

GRINNELL, Iowa – Two Grinnell College athletes, along with the Pioneer men’s and women’s track and field teams, were named 2012 Division III All-Academic by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

Sarah Burnell ’14 (left) was one of 340 honorees nationally on the women’s team, while Gavin Warnock ’14 (right) claimed a spot on the 226-member men’s squad. To qualify for the team, a student-athlete must have a grade point average of at least 3.30 and be either a national qualifier or have finished the regular season ranked in the national top 35 in an event.

Additionally, both the Grinnell women’s and men’s teams were tabbed as All-Academic. A total of 137 women’s teams and 74 men’s squads earned the honor, which is given to teams with a cumulative grade point average of 3.1 or higher. Grinnell’s women had a GPA of 3.40 and the men had a 3.30.
