Woods, Others Named to Preseason List

William Penn University Athletics

Oskaloosa–Mason Woods (Sr., Williamsburg, Williamsburg HS) is having quite a summer as he was picked for another Preseason All-America team by USA College Sports, Inc.

The offensive center received Second-Team honors, adding to his Beyond Sports Network Second-Team nod. This is the 20th annual team.

Woods headlined last year’s Statesmen squad that went 9-2 and produced the NAIA’s most potent rushing offense with 3,634 yards (330.4 avg.). William Penn posted a total of 4,510 yards (410.0 avg) and scored 377 points, including 42 touchdowns on the ground. He was a Third-Team All-American for his efforts.

As a member of the All-America team, Woods is eligible to compete in the 2013 Hansen Bowl this December. The Hansen Bowl is the only postseason game approved by the NAIA.

USA College Sports also announced its all-region squads with junior quarterback Taylor Parsons (The Woodlands, Texas, College Park HS) and junior fullback Shawn Davis (Hamersville, Ohio, Western Brown HS) joining Woods on the offense.

Parsons rushed for 1,026 yards and 13 touchdowns and completed 42.7% of his passes for 819 yards and seven more scores. Davis accounted for 957 yards on the ground in 2011. Each player earned second-team all-Midwest League laurels last year.
