James K. “Jimmy” Stirratt, 58, of Tracy, died Monday, July 9, 2012, at his home near Tracy. He was born November 2, 1953, at Peru, Illinois, the son of James F. and Loretta Szczepaniak Stirratt. He served his country in the United States Army, where he was awarded a National Defense Service Medal and sharpshooter designation. Upon his discharge, he went to work as a long haul truck driver, for a time. Jimmy began his career as a union boilermaker over 30 years ago. He was a member of the Boilermaker Union Local #83. On October 15, 1994, he was united in marriage to Cindy Fleener at Oskaloosa. He was a member of the Eagles and the V.F.W. Jimmy loved spending time with his family and friends at the river. He delighted in having Cindy, his children and grandchildren with him at the river, boating and teaching them how to fish. He also enjoyed mushroom hunting, hot rods, riding his Harley, and going to the drag races.

His family includes his wife Cindy Stirratt of Tracy; three daughters, Amber (& Rodney) Robertson of Seneca, Illinois, Amy Stirratt and Amanda Stirratt (& Jeremy Helland) all of Ottawa, Illinois; a step daughter, Candice (& Robin) Fuller of Oskaloosa; eleven grandchildren, Zachary Stanley, Zander Stanley, Gavin Robertson, Justis Stanley, Cooper Matteson, Austin Helland, Nikolas Helland, Parker Whiteaker, Conner Fuller, Isabelle Fuller, and Alex Fuller; his mother, Loretta Stirratt; a sister, Lori (& Terry) Nelson of Utica, Illinois; his mother in law, Halene Fleener of Oskaloosa; sisters and brothers in law, Janet Walraven of Oskaloosa, Terry (& Debbie) Rees of Rose Hill, Mike (& Diane McReynolds) Fleener of Oskaloosa, Kathy (& Howard) Lamb of Oskaloosa, Marilyn (& Jeff) Crumbley of Pelham, Alabama, and Sherry Fleener (& Thom Evans) of Oskaloosa; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father; two nephews, Patrick Brittingham and John Jameson Jones; and his father in law, William Fleener.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 12, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with Reverend Dan Ridnouer officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Cemetery with graveside military rites given by members of the Oskaloosa American Legion and V.F.W. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will begin Wednesday morning after 9 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel and the family will be at the funeral chapel from 6-8 Wednesday evening to greet friends and relatives. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Pella.
