Oskaloosa City Band To Play Patriotic Concert Postponed From Last Week

A rescheduled performance featuring patriotic music and two prizes is planned for Thursday evening on the city square.
Oskaloosa, Iowa – After an overwhelmingly hot and quiet week, the square will once again be filled with music on Thursday night at 8 p.m. The Oskaloosa City Band, under the direction of Bruce Peiffer, will perform the patriotic concert originally scheduled for last week.
Nic Steel, a William Penn student, will be guest conducting Ed Huckeby’s “Acclamations” this week. Nic is currently taking a course entitled, Conducting II. You will see Nic on the podium two more times later this summer as he fulfills his requirement of directing 4 pieces of music this summer. When he’s not practicing his conducting, he plays in the percussion section.
In commemoration of the 100th anniversary, each week, there will be a prize drawing near the end of the concert. Due to the postponement of last week’s concert, there will be two prizes this week. Last week’s featured sponsor was Tschetter’s Flowers and their contribution is a gift certificate for a fresh flower bouquet. This week’s featured sponsor is Taso’s Steakhouse and their contribution is a gift certificate. Please sign up at the table at the base of the bandstand. Each week, the winner, who must be present to win, will be announced prior to the playing of the National Anthem.
