Wanda Augustine
Wanda Augustine, 77, of rural Rose Hill, died Thursday, June 21, 2012, at her home near Rose Hill. She was born December 20, 1934, in Mahaska County the daughter of Cleo and Mabel McDonough Lockard. She graduated from the Lacey High School with the class of 1953. On December 20, 1955, she was united in marriage to Howard Augustine at the Indianapolis Church near What Cheer. To this union three children were born, Mike, Julie (the favorite), and Dan. Wanda was a wife and homemaker, living on the family farm north of Rose Hill her entire married life. She offered babysitting in her home for several families, those she cared for were known as her second set of grandchildren and she loved them as her own. She was a very active member of the First Christian Church in Oskaloosa, where she taught Sunday school for many years. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and giving handmade gifts. She found great joy and pride in her grandchildren.
Wanda is survived by her husband of over 56 years Howard Augustine of rural Rose Hill; three children, Mike (& Leesa) Augustine of rural Rose Hill, Julie Augustine of Oskaloosa, and Dan (& Teresa) Augustine of rural Rose Hill; seven grandchildren, Adam Coster, Seth Coster, Emily Augustine, Sam Coster, Ryan Augustine, Caitlin Augustine, and Hannah Augustine; a brother, Ralph Lockard of Oskaloosa; and a brother and sister in law, Keith and Esther Augustine of rural Rose Hill.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
As was Wanda’s wish her body has been cremated. On Thursday, June 28, 2012, from 4-6 p.m. there will be a time of remembrance in the fellowship hall of the First Christian Church in Oskaloosa. A private family interment will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be made to First Christian Church Sunday School.
