Fishing and Bowfishing Day Camps for Kids and Adults at Russell Wildlife Area

Mahaska County Conservation Board

Oskaloosa, Iowa – The Mahaska County Conservation Board is offering two day camps for kids and adults that are interested in fishing.

A Fishing Camp will be held on Tuesday, June 26 from 9:00 am until 1:00 pm. Participants of any age can bring their own pole or borrow one from MCCB to use while learning about fishing safety and fishing techniques. We will also teach you how to clean fish and prepare it for eating. To top it off, there will be a fish fry for lunch!

A Bowfishing Camp will be held on Thursday, June 28 from 9:00 am until 1:00 pm for anyone interested in learning about bowfishing. The Iowa Bowfishing Association will teach us about carp in Iowa’s waters and all about the sport of bowfishing. Each participant will be able to shoot a bow and practice their new skill! Bring a sack lunch for this event.

These camps are for people of all ages! Call the Mahaska County Conservation Board at (641)673-9327 or write to decook@mahaskacounty.org to pre-register.
